The venue for the Swimming events will be the National Sports Centre (NSC), based approximately 1.5 miles (2.4km) from the Games Village on Douglas Promenade and being the main sporting centre for the Games with Athletics, Badminton, Rugby 7’s and Mens Gymnastics also taking place on the same site. This £20 million multipurpose facility is truly the sporting centre of the Island. In September, 1991 the Athletics Stadium was opened by Steve Ovett, the former British and Olympic Champion. In 1998 the Pools, main Sports Hall and Health & Fitness Suite were opened. The development was completed by the opening of an Indoor Bowls Hall, a secondary Sports Hall and six Squash Courts in late 2000.

The NSC championship pool has full provision for 25 metre short course competition with 8 full width ( 2.5 metre wide ) lanes and a 1.8 metre uniform depth.
