IAAFs Youth age category: Boys and Girls: 16 – 17 years of age (athletes born in 1994 & 1995) and younger as allowed for in the Games Technical Regulations.
Maximum athletes per CGA: 2 per event & 1 relay team.

Recently appointed as the Athletics Development Officer for the Island. Represented the Isle of Man and Lancashire in the Shot Put and Hammer Throw competing in three Island Games. Former captain of Douglas RUFC winning two Manx Cups, South Lancs/Cheshire Division 3 Champions and Isle of Man Sports Awards Team of the Year.
Venue
The venue for the Athletics events will be the National Sports Centre (NSC), based approximately 1.5 miles (2.4km) from the Games Village on Douglas Promenade and being the main sporting centre for the Games with Badminton, Swimming, Rugby 7’s and Mens Gymnastics also taking place on the same site. This £20 million multipurpose facility is truly the sporting centre of the Island. In September, 1991 the Athletics Stadium was opened by Steve Ovett, the former British and Olympic Champion. In 1998 the Pools, main Sports Hall and Health & Fitness Suite were opened. The development was completed by the opening of an Indoor Bowls Hall, a secondary Sports Hall and six Squash Courts in late 2000.
The Isle of Man Government recently invested £500k in a new track and drainage system plus improvements to the long/triple jump, pole vault, shot and throwing facility to comply with IAAF standards in preparation of the Games. A 500 seat grandstand, which has also been recently refurbished, overviews the track. Temporary grandstands will also be erected for the Games to increase the spectator capacity to at least 1000.

The IAAF has appointed UK Athletics to assist with our preparations: Alan Bell the Chair of UKA Officials Technical Committee and Chris Cohen, the Chair of UKA Officials Education Group are now part of our team.
